Activities

QSOMate is organized around logging activities, which encapsulate real-world ham radio activities. Activities determine which information is collected and group QSOs together, such as contacts made during a POTA activation.

Examples include:

• For a park activation, create a POTA Activation activity to track the QSOs made during the activation. Later, use the activity to export those contacts to an ADIF file for the POTA website. The logging screen includes commonly exchanged information such as the other station’s state and POTA park.
• For a Summits on the Air activation, create a SOTA Activation activity. The logging screen lets you enter the other station’s summit reference when they are also on a summit.
• Straight Key Century Club members can use an SKCC activity to record member number, first name, and optional key type. QSOMate automatically enters available SKCC details after you enter the other station’s call sign.
• Use Generic Logging for contacts unrelated to another activity.

Creating an activity

You only need to create an activity for POTA or SOTA activations:

1. Tap the Activities tab at the bottom of the screen.
2. Tap the New Activity icon.
3. Fill out the required information. See Getting started for POTA activators or Getting started for SOTA activators.

Logging contacts for an activity

1. Tap the activity.
2. Enter the required information (call sign and frequency) and any optional information.
3. Tap Save to log the contact. To discard information without saving the QSO, tap Clear.
4. When done entering QSOs, tap Done at the top left. You can reopen the activity later to add contacts.

Exporting contacts

1. Tap the Activities tab at the bottom of the screen.
2. Long press the activity (right click on QSOMate Desktop).
3. Tap Export.
4. Select the QSO set for export.
5. Choose the export location. The options depend on how your device is set up.

Deleting an activity

1. Tap the Activities tab at the bottom of the screen.
2. Long press the activity (right click on QSOMate Desktop).
3. Tap Delete.
4. At the warning prompt, choose whether to delete only the activity or the activity and all its contacts. You can also cancel.

Updating an activity’s details

1. Tap the Activities tab at the bottom of the screen.
2. Long press the activity (right click on QSOMate Desktop).
3. Tap Edit Activity Details.

Filling in missing contact information

If contacts associated with an activity are missing contact information, such as when there was no network access, you can update missing names, states, and other details:

1. Tap the Activities tab at the bottom of the screen.
2. Long press the activity (right click on QSOMate Desktop).
3. Tap Fill in Missing Contact Info.

This does not change QSOs that already contain contact information. Currently, the only supported lookup service is HamDB, which supports a limited set of countries, so some contacts may still lack information afterward.
